It’s been a long time since I’ve shared something for the little scientist in me. The finding was published today in Nature. Researchers over at good ‘ole Harvard have discovered a way to convert one type of cell to another type without going through the stem-cell phase. Brandom Keim explains this much better than me. And for the uber-nerd-scientist and genetics-enthusiast among you, here’s a link to the paper submitted in Nature.
Janine Benyus on Biomimicry
Janine Benyus describes how nature overcomes design and engineering challenges, and how humans can learn to design efficient things from engaging in biomimicry. She gives examples of companies and products doing this today, and where the field of biomimicry can take us. A very engaging talk with a powerful end.
